I'm a Photographer, not a Terrorist
I'm a Photographer, not a Terrorist
I have had to deal with crazy restrictions a few times, the worst was at the Tanana Valley Farmer's Margaret in Fairbanks. Some vendor was worried that I would steal her jewelry designs. It was like I invaded a family, even though it was a public event.

Op-Ed Columnist - Is China the Next Enron? - NYTimes.com
Here is a different, much more optimistic, analysis of China's housing inflation. The Alaska housing crisis in the eighties had little impact on the rest of the USA. Maybe the absurd Chinese real estate development, that I have posted about previously, will have little international impact.

BBC News - Arctic tern's epic journey mapped
The Alaska terns obviously take a different path, but there journey is amazing. I love to watch the Terns when they arrive in Alaska, they are amazing, and beautiful, birds.

These photographs make the earthquake experience real. Very intense. To me, still photographs have more power to describe then the video that I see on TV. Maybe it allows me time to feel, reflect, and feel again.

This is pretty scary, after watching the Alaska collapse in the eighties the Thailand collapse in the nineties, and the US collapse last year, I wonder about the China collapse.

Meanwhile, a revolution unfolds in Iran Boing Boing
Here is a good place to begin learning about the "revolution?" in Iran.
Iran, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook
I am amazed by the amount of information on the situation in Iran available on Twitter, YouTube and Facebook. A year ago I used these tools when the airport in Bangkok was closed. I have ignored the communication tools since then, except for friendship and exploring my own interests.
Last night I watched the movie Hotel Rwanda. I wonder if people had used these new means of communication during the Rwanda massacre whether the world would have ignored the genocide?

The Best Walking Partner: Man vs. Dog - Well Blog - NYTimes.com
Actually my dog makes me walk! She is persistent in reminding me of my obligation to go out with her. She also makes me transition from walking her to running her. I walk because it makes my dog happy! Here are photographs again of the pest! The photo is her looking at me saying "hurry up"!

Multimedia of the Month: Is online ideal for images? | RESOLVE — the liveBooks photo blog
Multimedia of the Month: Is online ideal for images? | RESOLVE — the liveBooks photo blog
My inclination is to agree with this post, if the criteria for sharing photographs is for somebody to look at them, with thought and reflection, maybe the web does not do that. I know I tend to glance at, rather then look at photographs on the web. But if the goal of sharing on the web is to make your photographs available to be looked at, the web is amazing.
The dilemma is to turn awareness into observation. I am constantly buying photo books that I have discovered through the web. The web made me aware of the photographs, but the possibility of getting a book made me want to get the book to look at the photographs.

This is an experiment using Google Sites, a free web site tool and Picasa Web Albums. It is an alternative method to share my photographs that integrates with Blogger and my web sites. I can create a slide show for each of my Web Albums. I still have things to enhance, but I am impressed by the tools. Check it out.
